After beating the Dominican Republic in three straight sets, the national team keeps collecting victories in the Female FIVB Nations League.
Brazil’s female national volleyball team does not show any sign of tiredness in the Female FIVB Nations League. After their inaugural match against Canada, where they won 3-1, they shut out the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-17). They are a team that is showing itself as one of the major candidates to get the title.
Captain Fernanda Rodrigues and Tandara Caixeta both scored 14 points, leading their team to a victory that puts them closer to the main objective. With José Roberto Guimarães as coach, the Cariocas are looking to take revenge from the last edition of this same competition, where they lost the final match to the United States by a narrow 3-2.
The female volleyball team continues its rise in this year’s Nations League. In the meantime, they are in third place in the FIVB Ranking, right after the USA and China. It seems they are aiming to take the first-place title, which they have held twice in the past. On both occasions (2012 and 2015), United States ultimately achieved the number one position.
The Brazilian team has played an important role in different world competitions throughout time. After four consecutive Olympic Games editions without even qualifying (1964, 1968, 1972, 1976), a big change has occurred in the entity’s ambitions. From 1980 onwards, they have not only achieved qualification but also showed big improvements as regards results. Two bronze medals (1996, 2000) and two gold medals (2008, 2012) serve as best evidence.
As for World Championship titles, the Brazilian team has yet to achieve one. With participation in all but 3 of them, they were able to get the second-place award in three of the championships (1994, 2006, 2010). The 2022 World Championship, taking place in Poland, will be a new opportunity to get one of the most desired awards in this sport’s environment. With 10 appearances in the World cup, the team has also achieved 3 runners-up rankings.
The story has had different endings regarding other international competitions. Brazil’s female national team has achieved 44 titles throughout time, including the two previously mentioned gold medals in Summer Olympic Games. This record also includes World Grand Champions, World Grand Prix, Pan American Games, Pan American Cups, and South American Championships.
Among their most notable players, Brazil’s national team includes current team captain Fernanda Rodrigues and Tandara Caixeta. Both players are currently on the team roster and continue to show great performances whenever they play.
Other notable players include middle blockers Adenízia da Silva (13 gold medals) and Carol Gattaz (11 gold medals), and setter Danielle Lins (11 gold medals). Their legacy has been picked up by the current squad, who are constantly looking to improve their performance and results.
At Inmersivo, we salute Brazil’s efforts to become a worldwide strength in female volleyball. We will also be in touch with the next international championship editions and eagerly look forward to their best results.
